An opportunity for food and beverage sector representatives to come together and discuss some of the key challenges and barriers they are facing in relation to natural capital, as well as their needs and potential solutions.

The value of nature for the food and beverage sector 

The food and beverage sector is expected to benefit from underlying growth factors such as demographic change and urbanisation. Yet the supply side of food is increasingly vulnerable. 

Current food systems are outstripping the planet's resources and just four crops account for over 75% of food, presenting a major concentration risk. 

The food and beverage sector relies on natural capital for its raw materials, energy, land, water, and a stable climate. The sector also has some of the greatest potential to effect a positive change; developing a food and beverage system that supports healthy people and a healthy planet will create a business opportunity that benefits us all.

Join us for our first food and beverage virtual roundtable discussion on 7 May from 10:00-12:30 CEST. This will be a chance for representatives from the Food & Beverage sector to come together and discuss among peers what challenges are most pressing and help shape the direction of We Value Nature and our activities. The discussions will directly contribute to the development of targeted training and communications materials tailored to the food and beverage sector. 

The roundtable will be interactive and is organised in a way that will enable you to have engaging discussions throughout this virtual event. The objectives are to: 

  • Share what your company is doing with respect to environmental risk & opportunities in business decision-making;
  • Share your experience on what works and what doesn’t, what are some of your key barriers & challenges to integrating natural capital, as well as learn from peers;
  • Discuss what support, training and communication material is needed within the food and beverage sector to help overcome these barriers; and
  • Explore how the We Value Nature Campaign can help

In view of the current circumstances, the roundtable discussion will be carried out entirely virtually through Zoom.
