There has never been a better time for businesses to assess their impacts and dependencies on nature. Through understanding and considering the risks and opportunities created by nature, businesses can make better decisions that benefit themselves, society and the planet as a whole.
However, when it comes to applying natural capital approaches, companies often don’t know where and how to get started.
As you’re hopefully aware, We Value Nature has developed two training modules on natural capital using the Natural Capital Protocol as a basis. Our first module provides an introduction to the concept of natural capital and the second module provides practical and concrete guidance on how a company can begin to approach a first natural capital assessment.
We’re running a series of train-the-trainer sessions to help you adapt, contextualize and deliver the modules. Our train-the-trainer sessions are open to all, whether you are a business, NGO, consultancy or other type of organization. They are meant to support change agents like you looking to bring on board colleagues, other internal departments, business members or an organization as a whole on the natural capital journey.
What will you learn through our train-the-trainer sessions?
- How to deliver, adapt and contextualize the material;
- How to account for attendees’ backgrounds to aid different explanations, as well as suggest answers to questions that frequently arise during the delivery of these training modules;
- Practical tips on how to run training events virtually (using Zoom and Mentimeter) and in-person by going through the group exercise components of the material and how these can be used to engage the audience.

For our module 2 train-the-trainer, we recommend you either have an initial understanding of natural capital or have taken part in our module 1 train-the-trainer as some sections require a bit more technical knowledge.
